WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DOING THIS PAST YEAR

We were able to come together over a handful of Zoom rehearsals and create this beautiful recording of Let There Be Peace on Earth, arranged by Michael Braz and conducted by Tegan Miller. The recording took place in the sprig of 2021.

This track can also be heard every night at the Plant Riverside Entertainment District

Dear Friends and Supporters of the Coastal Youth Choirs,

As the governing body of the Coastal Youth Choirs/Savannah Children’s Choir (SCC), the Board of Directors thanks you for your on-going support of our students and organization.  The Board is providing necessary guidance and oversight as the organization navigates current and upcoming challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and places the safety and well-being of our singers, families, volunteers, and patrons above all else. As we look to our 15th Season, and in consultation with SCC’s staff and many key stakeholders, we have developed this framework to guide crucial decision-making in the near and distant future.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

1. Above all, the safety and well-being of our singers, families, staff, and supporters is of utmost importance.

2. We will continue to fulfill our mission of using music education to foster the personal and social growth of our singers and inspire our community through impactful performances.

3. The strategies we employ and decisions we make will be to ensure the current and future prosperity of the organization for years to come.

Coastal Youth Choirs

Choral Foundations Program

Through a generous grant provided by Cultural Resources Center of the City of Savannah and Gulfstream Aerospace, the board of directors of the Coastal Youth Choirs/Savannah Children's Choir, Inc. is pleased to announce the continuation of the popular Choral Foundations Program, founded February 2020.

Choral Foundations is an outreach program that exists to enhance music choral music instruction with interested music educators in partner schools. These partnerships are grounded in the CYC support and professional development of general music and choral directors, offering a variety of resources, development of music curriculum, strategies and techniques, children’s choir repertoire, and more. Participating schools are invited to perform at CYC Concerts throughout the year.

The CYC organization is passionate about the growth of every young singer. Through the Choral Foundations Program, the goal is to encourage, support, and strengthen existing school general music and choral programs while uniting a diverse group of young people through choral music education.

The CYC Choral Foundations Program hosts four Music Educator Nights throughout the school year for all general music and choral educators in the greater Savannah and Low Country of South Carolina as well as funding for relevant professional development opportunities and conference attendance for teachers.
