History
The idea for a Savannah Children’s Choir grew out of a 2006 coffee-hour conversation when a parent of musical children chatted with a local performer. They agreed there was a lack of musical opportunities for Savannah’s children.
Within a week, the newly formed organization held a one-week Summer Camp for 53 children. Designed to test the waters, the need for a community-based children’s choir was soon demonstrated when over 100 children showed up to audition.
Soon afterwards, the Savannah Children’s Choir incorporated, received 501-c-3 not for profit status, and attracted a dedicated group of volunteer board members to help set the course for the new organization.
