On Friday, May 18 they will perform the National Anthem at the Greenville Drive baseball game, and then enjoy a cookout while watching the Greenville Drive beat West Virginia.

On Saturday, May 19, the children will visit a local museum before offering a public concert from 11:15 – 11:45 a.m. at Peace Center plaza in downtown Greenville.  Afterwards, they’ll perform at the Children’s Museum of the Upstate at 1:30 p.m., and then enjoy a fun afternoon and evening exploring downtown Greenville.

On Sunday, May 20, the SCC will sing in worship at St. Andrew’s Episcopal church, enjoy the zoo and then head home.

While here, they will participate in a workshop with  noted clinician Ann Howard Jones from Boston University, and will publicly perform on Friday, June 1 at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s, 34th & Abercorn.

LowCountry Children’s Chorus is an auditioned, tuition-based, community chorus for treble voices ages 9 and up. In residence at The Baptist Church of Beaufort, where most of their rehearsing and concertizing have transpired over the years, they have also participated in a variety of community, regional, and national choral events.

LCCC was founded by executive director, Dr. Melanie Williams and is accompanied by Mrs. Linda Keene. The choir is a 501-c-3 non-profit community choir administered by a volunteer board of directors.

Savannah Children’s Choir will join LCCC for their 10^th Anniversary Concert . This guest choir from Savannah has just recently returned from a choral competition in Verona, Italy, and will share some of the choral works from that experience.   SCC has performed with the Savannah Sinfonietta, the Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, several artists in residence, and they were a featured presenter at this year’s Georgia Music Educators In-Service Conference in Savannah in February. The chorus was founded in 2006 by Roger Moss, Artistic Director and Cuffy Sullivan, Executive Director. Their staff includes conductor Timothy Hall, director of education Emmy Williams and Anne Acker, accompanist.

Both choirs will perform individually for this concert and will also join forces on a few numbers. LCCC will present a choral set with a “water theme” in honor of our Lowcountry setting as well as feature a few outstanding young artists as soloists.

Ms. Spalding went on to win a Grammy award in 2011 for Best New Artist.

“The Savannah Children’s Choir is thrilled to be featured on this album,” comments SCC Artistic Director Roger Moss.  ”It was a great experience for our kids, and a pretty spectacular  thing to have on your musical resume at such a young age,” he continued.

The SCC’s Summer Camp is back with a great new twist!  This year, instead of an End of Camp concert, we’re putting on an End of Camp SHOW!  This fully-staged musical will feature our talented summer campers singing, dancing and acting!

Summer Camp is 9am to 5 pm each weekday, July 16-27, held at Asbury Memorial United Methodist church on Henry & Waters.  Camp is designed for kids who are rising 2nd through 8th graders

Instructors earning advanced degrees from top colleges and universities are recruited to share their love of music with our campers.  Each day your musically-interested 2nd-8th grader learns about music history, theory and sight singing, and this year will also have classes in dance, movementand acting.   You’ll feel part of the team singing during Group Choral time, and every day ends with a healthy snack and a concert given by local musicians.

In addition to being a fun camp, SCC’s Summer Camp serves as the only audition into the SCC for the 2012-2013 season!

They were wearing the t-shirts designed by City of Savannah employee (and artist) Carol Lasell, and had a chance to say “thank you” to City aldermen and the City manager for the gift of the shirts, which will be worn on their trip to Italy in April, 2012 to participate in an international choir competition.

Mayor Jackson showed her support of the choir by modeling the shirt for the rest of City council.

Each year, the Savannah Children’s Choir sings the praises of individuals and organizations who make a difference in the lives of children in our community at an annual awards program called “One Small Voice”.

This year, Paula Wallace and the Savannah Friends of Music were honored in a ceremony on Saturday, March 10 at the JCB headquarters in Pooler.  The evening included an awards ceremony, special concert by the Savannah Children’s Choir, and a cocktail buffet.

The evening, presented by JCB, was sponsored by Barbara and Mike Ruddy with corporate support from Hunter Maclean and transportation support from Old Town Trolley.

Paula Wallace saw that the Esther F. Garrison School of Visual and Performing Arts needed help getting ready to open their new specialty school. She identified several key needs, and helped improve the school building and grounds in time for opening.

Through their support of the Savannah Youth Orchestra, scholarships for summer camp programs and direct involvement with local schools, they help local youth experience the magic of music.The Savannah Friends of Music works tirelessly to raise funds to help provide opportunities for musically talented youth in our community.
